Kayaking / Stand-Up Paddleboarding
Currently Chester Woods lake is the only local large area lake that is open to kayakers. City parks such as Silver Lake are relatively limited in size and hence not very attractive for kayakers and paddlers. Gamehaven Lake is 43 acres in size with interesting terrain and 2 long extensions that provide great areas to explore. A spillway at the northwest corner of the lake provides easy access to the water. The high terrain surrounding much of the lake reduces the effects of wind  making this lake ideal for paddlers.

An ideal alternative to kayaking is Stand-up Paddle (SUP) boarding. A 2013 report called it the outdoor sporting activity with the most first-time participants of any in the United States that year. SUP offers a fun, relaxing way to play on the water. With a minimum of gear, you can paddle lakes and rivers. SUP delivers a full body workout and thus has become a popular cross-training activity. And since you stand at your full height, you can enjoy unique views of everything from lake life to what's on the horizon.
